WHAT IS EDEMA
Edema is an accumulation of the fluid in the interstitial space, caused by a damaged lymph vessel system unable to ensure adequate drainage of fluid. This trapped fluid in the body tissue causes lymphatic system blockage. Which results in swelling of the arms, hands, legs, feet, and ankles. This condition can also affect other parts of the body including the face, hands, and abdomen. Edema can also occur after a breast cancer surgery, radiation or even abdominal surgeries.
This creates very uncomfortable and painful inflammation.
